Easter: Death, Resurrection, and the Gift of Salvation
Every year, all around the world, Christians gather to celebrate one powerful truth: Jesus Christ is alive.
Easter is not just a tradition. It is not just a holiday. It is the moment that defines everything we believe.
On Good Friday, we reflect on the weight of the cross—the suffering, the sacrifice, the cost of sin. But Easter morning changes everything. It reminds us that the story didn’t end in the grave.
Jesus did not stay in the tomb. He was raised from death to life.
And because of that, we have hope.
God’s Love on Display
One of the most powerful questions we can ask is this:
How much does God really love me?
The answer is found in Romans 5:8:
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Think about that for a moment.
Not when we had everything together. Not when we cleaned up our lives. Not when we finally “got it right.”
While we were still sinners… Christ died for us.
God didn’t wait for us to become lovable. He loved us first.
And He didn’t just say it—He showed it.
More Than a Feeling—A Demonstration
God’s love is not just something we feel. It’s something we can see.
We see it in the life of Jesus. We see it in the cross.
On Good Friday, we remember the reality of that sacrifice—the trial, the beating, the nails, the suffocating death. Jesus took on the full weight of our sin and the punishment we deserved.
Why?
Because He loves us.
That’s the heart of Easter. Not an obligation. Not duty. Not ritual.
Love.
Justified by Grace
Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, something incredible happens:
We are justified.
That’s a big word, but a simple truth.
Justification means that God, by His grace, pardons all our sins and declares us righteous.
Not because of what we’ve done. But because of what Jesus has done.
We don’t earn it. We don’t deserve it. We receive it by faith.
God doesn’t say, “Try harder, and maybe I’ll accept you.”He says, “My Son has already paid the price.”
That is love beyond anything we could imagine.
From Justified to Reconciled
But God doesn’t stop at forgiveness.
He goes further.
We are not only justified—we are reconciled.
Reconciliation means a relationship restored.
We were once separated from God, living as enemies because of sin. But through Jesus, that separation is gone.
Now we are brought near. Now we belong. Now we have a relationship with Him.
As Scripture says:
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”
This is not just about being forgiven. It’s about being made new.
Saved by His Death… and His Life
Easter reminds us of two powerful truths:
Jesus’ death saves us from the wrath of God
Jesus’ resurrection gives us new life
When the women came to the tomb that morning, they expected to find a body.
Instead, they found an empty grave.
An angel told them:
“He is not here, for He has risen.”
That moment changed everything.
Because Jesus lives, we know:
His sacrifice was accepted
His promises are true
Our future is secure
We are not just saved from something—we are saved for something.
For eternal life. For a relationship with God.For hope that never ends.
A Joy That Can’t Be Shaken
If all of this is true—if God truly loves us, saves us, and restores us—then it should change how we live.
And the result is this:
Joy.
Not the kind of joy that depends on circumstances. Not the kind that fades when life gets hard.
But a deep, steady, unshakable joy.
The Apostle Paul wrote about joy even while:
Sitting in prison
Facing possible death
Chained to guards day and night
And yet he rejoiced.
Why?
Because his joy wasn’t based on his situation. It was rooted in his salvation.
This Changes Everything
No matter what you are facing right now—health struggles, financial stress, loss, uncertainty—
Easter speaks into it.
It reminds you:
You are loved
You are forgiven
You are not alone
You are saved
And that truth brings a joy the world cannot take away.
A Final Invitation
This Easter, take a moment to truly consider:
God sent His Son to die for you. He raised Him from death to life for you.
So that you could be:
Justified
Reconciled
Saved
And filled with hope.
So today…
Rejoice. Rejoice in His love. Rejoice in His sacrifice.
Rejoice in the empty tomb.
Because Jesus lives—and that changes everything.
